Diluting your Confidence

I'm happy for people to shop for new shirts and new denims. But do you know that I'm happier when people get rid of stuff that don't look good on them anymore? Or even more when they get rid of those items that never made them look good at anytime in any way in any given time in their lives.
Have you bought a dress for when you lose that extra pounds and never did? Or did you get yourself something with the conviction that it looks good on you when the mirror says something else? Oh yes, we had our moments. Those big, frizzy hair à la Cindy Lauper. Or too short like Demi Moore.  Ill fitting t - shirts that hid all the curves, too conscious to get noticed. Those odd shaped jeans. Uncoordinated colours of outfit, weird pieces to match. A bit falling apart clothes here and there. Do they dilute our confidence a bit especially when we are unexpectedly standing near a smart dress, stylish person?
How about putting comfort before style? Can something be functional and beautiful at the same time?
